Volunteers who have lived in Pennsylvania continuously for 10 or more years must obtain:
- Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check (through the PA State Police)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (through the Department of Human Services)
- A signed Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers
Volunteers who have NOT lived in Pennsylvania continuously for 10 or more years must obtain:
- Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check (through the PA State Police)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (through the Department of Human Services)
- Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
All Volunteers Must Obtain:
Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check through the State Police
- A report of the criminal history record information (or lack thereof) from the Pennsylvania State Police
- Can be obtained at no cost online at https://epatch.pa.gov with results available within a few minutes
All Volunteers Must Obtain:
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance through the Department of Human Services
- A certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services as to whether the person is named in their central register as a perpetrator of a founded report or indicated report of child abuse; founded report for school employee or indicated report for school employee; or are under investigation for child abuse
- Can be obtained at no cost online at https://www.dhs.pa.gov/KeepKidsSafe/Clearances/Pages/PA-Child-Abuse-History-Clearance.aspx (create an individual account).
Volunteers who have lived in Pennsylvania continuously for 10 or more years must:
- Download, print, sign, and submit the Disclosure Statement.
Volunteers who have NOT lived in Pennsylvania continuously for 10 or more years must obtain:
Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
- FBI clearances do have a fee and are done in Pennsylvania using a company called IdentoGO, https://www.identogo.com/ On the home page you can search for convenient locations. Once you have your location picked out go to https://uenroll.identogo.com/ and enter code 1KG6ZJ and follow the prompts. You will have to supply a credit card for the fee.
- Instructions for what to bring with you to the fingerprinting location is all found on the web pages as you go through this process.
- After you are fingerprinted you will receive a letter in the mail with your results. Bring this to the site and we will make a copy and return the original to you.
