Living History Sunday: Pirates & Piracy in the 18th Century
Did you know Blackbeard the Pirate had a connection to Graeme Park? Join us for a Living History Sunday on pirates and piracy in the 18th century and how Sir William Keith ran Blackbeard out of Philadelphia. Kids can walk the plank and create their own pirate flag. Living History is free, tours of the Keith House are optional and are $8 for 19-59 year-olds and $6 for 6-18 year-olds and 60+.

Speaker Susanne Johnston will speak to us on Courtship, Sex and the Single Colonist. Enjoy a continental breakfast, lecture, and a lunch buffet. Tours of the historic Keith House will also be available after lunch. Details and registration information to follow.

Christmas in the colonies was celebrated differently, and sometimes not at all, by each ethnic group who settled here, bringing traditions from their homeland. Graeme Park was home to the Scottish Keith and Graeme families, Irish and German servants, enslaved workers, and later the Quaker Penroses. As you tour the rooms of the Keith House, costumed actors will present these different traditions to you – some you will recognize in our modern day celebrations or maybe you’ll discover something new…
