Join us for a presentation on Harriot Stanton Blatch followed by a tea with sandwiches and sweets.
Harriot Stanton Blatch was the daughter of suffragette Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Raised in a family that encouraged debate and political conversation, young Harriot was exposed to such activists in the women’s movement as Sojourner Truth and Susan B. Anthony, as well as to her mother’s ideals. As a young woman, she emerged in her own right to lecture, write, lobby, and advocate for legislative policy in the effort to gain voting rights for women. The end of her life was devoted to ensuring her mother’s legacy.
