Join us as we traverse 1776 through the turn of the 20th century in celebration of freedom and independence. The first public reading of the Declaration of Independence was held on July 8, 1776, and our colonial dressed volunteers will follow suit by reenacting this reading. Independence Day became a Federal holiday in 1870 and lead to the rise of celebrations that included picnics and ice cream socials. Join us for a day of colonial activities and fun! Kids can participate in a colonial school, learn proper etiquette, play colonial games, try on colonial clothing, see a hearth cooking demonstration, and learn about spinning, needlework, and carding wool. Tours of the historic Keith House will also be available at 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 for $5/person (regularly $8 for adults and $6 for kids & seniors). Living History activities are outside and free.
