Hearth Cooking Class: Storing the Fruits of the Season
August 27, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
| $45.00Event Navigation

Leave with a jar of preserves as we simmer jams, jellies, pickled vegetables, and punctuate it all with hearty, homemade bread and butter.
In 1747, English cook Hannah Glasse revolutionized how we ate by publishing the first book of recipes written in language for the common person.
Today we delve into her recipes using authentic heirloom ingredients in the open hearth kitchen standing beside the home of Pennsylvania Governor Sir William Keith. Each class menu is based on historical seasonal ingredients, styled after menus true to the eating habits of the era. No experience is necessary. Ages 16 and up welcome.
All classes taught by experienced open hearth cook Erin Agnew.
Classes are $45/each, $35/members & students, or $35/two or more different classes purchased at the same time for same individual.
